VE and WM Series II marks the latest versions of Australia's most popular sedans, wagons, utilities and luxury long-wheelbase vehicles. The new range has seen Holden finesse the formula that has made Commodore the nation's top selling car for 14 years straight by introducing smart multimedia technology, improved fuel economy, and the capacity to run on environmentally friendly bio-ethanol.

VE Series II brings more multimedia features to Commodore than ever before through an allnew infotainment system that delivers full Bluetooth®, USB and iPod integration across the range.

Known as Holden-iQ, the system is controlled through a clever, user-friendly touch screen mounted in the centre stack - the cornerstone of a refreshed interior design across all models.

Introducing increased plug-and-play music functions and the capacity to rip and store up to 15 CDs on an internal flash drive, the system also delivers advanced satellite navigation features on selected models including live traffic condition alerts to help drivers avoid congestion delays.

Commodore's smart technology extends to the Series II powertrain line-up which delivers further fuel economy improvements on all models.

Holden's frugal 3.0 litre SIDI V6 now achieves economy of 9.1 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres in the official ADR81/02 test. The two per cent improvement adds to the 13 per cent fuel economy gain made in September last year when Spark Ignition Direct Injection engine technology was introduced to the Commodore range.

Ironically, it's only years after the big divorce that the Jeep brand finally benefits from the DaimlerChrysler marriage. An all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee debuts for 2011, and it now shares its underpinnings with the Mercedes-Benz M-class SUV. Better late than never, we suppose.A new 3.6-liter replaces the previous 3.7-liter as the base V-6. It produces 280 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque (up significantly from the old lump's 210 and 235) and returns 11 percent better fuel economy, thanks in part to variable valve timing. The optional 360-hp, 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 returns to the playground, and both engines are paired with a five-speed automatic transmission and either rear- or four-wheel drive. An optional Quadra-Lift air suspension (inherited from Mercedes) can raise the Grand Cherokee's ride height, increasing approach, departure, and breakover angles for even more off-road credibility. No longer constrained by the Commander, Jeep's mainstay family hauler has room to grow--and so the new Grand Cherokee is 1.8 inches longer, 3 inches wider, and, most important, rides on a wheelbase that's 5.3 inches longer. That last measurement contributes to a significant increase in rear-seat room, a welcome improvement over today's cramped bench. Jeep promises more soft-touch plastics and a higher quality interior, as well as an available Alpine sound system. The Grand Cherokee's styling is purely evolutionary, but Chrysler knows not to mess with a good thing--as the company faces extinction, it's Jeep that's most likely to surviveThe Grand Cherokee has long been a rare viable Chrysler model in Europe and Jeep promises the new one will be built in left- and right-hand-drive versions. It will come only with two rows of seats, and with a bit more emphasis on luxury to compete with the new Cadillac SRX and Lexus RX, among others. The slow-selling Jeep Commander is a short-timer -- you'll find a new three-row Dodge Durango sharing the Grand Cherokee's rear-drive, unibody platform next year at your local Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep dealer.

2011 Grand Cherokee is also the first Chrysler product to make use of the new Phoenix V-6 engine family, in this case a 280-horsepower, 260 pound-foot 3.6L unit. The 360 horsepower, 390 pound-foot 5.7L Hemi V-8 will still be offered and Europeans will be able to check a box labeled "diesel." Suspension is all-new, independent at the four corners.
